Ask a Librarian

Your member I.D. is your 10-digit cell phone number (in the case of families, it's Mom's number).

Books loaned to friends have a 4-week due date. Overdue items will be charged a local or homemade edible fine: That means you pay your dues in local wine, beer, artisan baking or chocolates, farm-fresh produce, etc. Go ahead, surprise me with deliciousness.

If you break or severely damage a book (i.e. missing pages, cover ripped off, covered in chocolate handprints), you buy me a new or good-condition used copy in the same style (i.e. hardcover should be replaced with hardcover, a missing book from a set needs to match the rest of the set, foreign languages need to have the same translator, etc.). Alternately, if we can find the same/similar book on Amazon.ca you can just etransfer me the money and I will order it. Delivery on replacement items is expected within 2 weeks of when damage occurs.

Want to set up your own library? The Librarika app includes a scanner to make things easy! If you still want to borrow my library-grade scanner, no problem (4 week loan). As the battery won't last forever and I will eventually need a new scanner, there is a $1 charge per week to borrow. If you break the scanner or lose pieces, you owe me $40. If the battery dies in your possession, there's no extra charge - I knew it wouldn't last forever.
